Senior Tax Work-Off Program
The Senior program is open to 25 participants. Volunteers must complete 67 hours of service to the Town to get the full credit of $1,000 per year.
Requirements:
- 60 Years of age or older
- Must live in Brewster, reside at the property where tax relief is sought, and be the homeowner or trustee or spouse of the owner of the property.
- Limited financial resources: Single person: $23,000; Married couple: $40,000.
The program starts February 1st and ends September 31. The tax credit will appear on the following Spring Real Estate tax bill. Applications are available at the Brewster Senior Center starting November 1st of each year and are due by December 7th.
Veteran Tax Work-Off Program
The Veteran program is open to 10 participants. Volunteers must complete 67 hours of service to the Town to get the full credit of $1,000 per year.
Requirements:
- Must be a veteran (must have a DD-214 Form)
- Must live in Brewster, reside at the property where the tax relief is sought, and be the homeowner or trustee or spouse of the owner.
- There is no income or age limit to the Veteran Program.
- If the Veteran is unable to serve, they may designate a person (spouse or friend) to complete the volunteer hours in the Veteran's stead.

Applications are available at the on our new website or at the Brewster Senior Center. Volunteer hours can be performed at the Senior Center, Library, Police Department, or other Town departments. You will be matched based on your interest and job availability.
