The Gam: The Tragedy of the Whaleship Essex

Come join us for a special presentation by the Nantucket Historical Association, as they tell the story of the ill-fated whaleship Essex, which left Nantucket on a whaling voyage in 1819 and became famous for being stove by a whale. The men endured a grueling journey as they set sail in three small whaleboats for the coast of South America. The presentation is approximately 20-30 minutes long followed by questions and answers. Now what?"  Wild Care, Inc. is a nonprofit wildlife hospital located in Eastham that is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and release of injured and orphaned wildlife on Cape Cod. Wild Care operates a Wildlife Helpline and treats over 1,700 animals per year: everything from Snowy Owls to White-footed Mice. Join Wild Care's Executive Director Stephanie Ellis, as she discusses "what to do" when you find young animals in distress, who to call on Cape Cod, as well as dispel myths about coyotes and give tips for coexisting with our wild neighbors.
