Brewster Recognized as Dementia Friendly Community
On June 10, 2025, the Town of Brewster received certification as a Dementia Friendly Community from the Massachusetts Councils on Aging. In partnership with Barnstable County and the Healthy Aging Cape Cod Coalition, this designation recognizes Brewster for its commitment to fostering a supportive, inclusive, and welcoming community for individuals living with dementia and their care partners. In attaining this certification, Brewster joins a network of communities across Massachusetts dedicated to raising awareness, reducing stigma, and improving lives.
Brewster Recognized as Age-Friendly Community
The Brewster Council on Aging (COA) continues to build on their Dementia Friendly Community certificate by joining the AARP Network of Age-Friendly Communities. AARP helps participating communities to become more livable and age-friendly by creating safer and more walkable streets, needed housing and transportation options, better access to key services, and opportunities for residents to participate in community activities. The COA will continue to work with residents, families and local partners to assess needs, develop an action plan, and launch programs and improvements aligned with AARP’s age-friendly framework.
Donations are gratefully accepted for all Brewster COA programs and services, including outreach, training, entertainment, special programs, and events. Checks can be made out to the Brewster Council on Aging.
